The 14th Annual Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation Luncheon was held on October 21, 2015 at the Hilton Americas-Houston. With high attendance at a new venue, the foundation was able to impact the community with energy and enthusiasm and raise awareness about breast cancer as well as surpass the $1.53 million mark in donations!
This year’s featured guest speaker was Amy Robach of Good Morning America, who received her first mammogram on air in 2013 and was subsequently diagnosed with breast cancer. The 2015 Spirit of Courage Award was given to Lourdes Hernandez, a three-time breast cancer survivor and breast cancer volunteer activist.
At the luncheon, the foundation donated a record breaking $130,000 equally divided among the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Texas MD Anderson, and the Houston Methodist Research Institute Department of Nanomedicine. Special thanks to all of our sponsors, donors, and friends for all of the support!
