Raghda Henthorne moved to Houston in 1981, when times were simpler and technology wasn’t as pervasive in our everyday lives. Her main focus was raising three happy, healthy and well-adjusted kids—and that’s just what she did. Once her youngest started school, she set her sights on a career in real estate.
Within the first year, which was rife with learning experiences, Raghda won the “Rookie of the Year” award for her company. Why? Because she was determined to be the best, and she drew on her own experiences to meet her clients’ needs. Having lived overseas and uprooted her life to move to the States, she knew what it took to relocate and start fresh in a new place.
Raghda’s career in real estate opened doors for her to connect with many wonderful families who desperately needed the insider’s perspective she could provide. She made friends quickly, and her clients learned they could depend on her to help them when no one else could. With her personal experience and more than a little intuition, she has able to forge lasting professional and personal relationships with hundreds of families over the past two-and-a-half decades.
You see, Raghda doesn’t do anything “halfway.” When she’s committed to something, she makes it happen.
When Raghda was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002, she and her family were surprised. She had always been very healthy, conscientious about her diet and always making sure to get plenty of exercise (showing homes around Houston all day, every day and chasing after her three active kids in her spare time didn’t hurt, either).
Shortly after a routine mammogram, which came back clear, she felt a lump in her breast. She didn’t panic; she simply called her doctor and scheduled an appointment. Another mammogram came back with clear results, so the doctor ordered an ultrasound—and the lump was, in fact, there. After a biopsy confirmed somewhat advanced breast cancer, Raghda set her mind to recovery.
During and after her treatments, Raghda couldn’t leave her clients—the people who depended on her expertise, knowledge and compassion. In fact, walking away from real estate never even crossed her mind. She never gave up on them… or on herself.
Raghda has made it her mission to do everything she can to help anyone who’s suffering from breast cancer. She’s committed to working toward a cure, and you’ll often find her raising funds for several organizations who share the same goal. As a member of the Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation committee, Raghda shares her experiences and her positive, can-do attitude with everyone she meets.
